Lucid has 3 core beliefs that guide who we are and why we do what we do.
What Lucid does is simple - We make booking travel cheaper & easier for teams.
Most travel companies claim the same thing, but it's not clear what they're actually doing to make it happen.
Here's what we're doing:
The principals that define an organization can be felt by every person that's involved, whether it's a part-time contractor or a first-time customer.
During their senior year spring break, a group of friends at NC State University decided to go to Breckenridge, CO for a snowboarding trip. They quickly realized that finding flights, transportation, lodging and ski tickets for everyone at once was tough... so they bought an all-inclusive package through Inertia Tours .
Lucid Travel was officially incorporated and launched but we had nothing but a landing page and contact form.
Nearly 2 years later, two large groups of 50+ college students were looking for a simple, all-inclusive package to Cancun, Mexico. The founding team connected them with Inertia Tours and earned 5% commission on both the groups which ended up being almost $2000... This is when the opportunity became realized.
Ends up that selling spring break packages was not as easy as we thought... It was at this moment that we realized a major change was needed to build the high-growth, scalable venture we envisioned.
We took some time to research the industry and came to the assumption that university club sports would be a great initial niche. After surveying 100+ university club sports departments, the opportunity become clear and Lucid Travel (As seen today) was born.
The founding team was able to scrap together a prototype that was good enough for a couple university club sports programs to test.
By the end of the 2017 year, we had 20 official university club sports partnerships in place.
In less than a year, the Lucid team grew in size and so did our impact. At this point we officially hit the 100-university partnership mark!
